Southfields House is a Residential Care
Home registered to accommodate up to sixteen elderly people. There
are seven rooms on the ground floor, and a further nine rooms on
the first floor. Twelve of the rooms have en suite toilets and
hand basin vanity unit. Two of these rooms are very large and
suitable for double occupancy if desired. The Home is centrally
heated, with double glazed windows in most areas.

We use a
Stairmatic Mobile Stair
Climber, in addition to a Chair Lift. This device enables a
member of staff to transfer those with difficulty in
negotiating stairs and who do not wish to use the Chair Lift,
up and down them with ease.

TV aerial points are fitted in all
rooms for the use either of the occupant's own TV, or one we
provide. In addition, TVs are available in the lounges with a
loop system if required, and a VCR for public viewing of
videotapes.
-
All rooms have a 'State of the art'
emergency call system, that can be temporarily displaced with
the room occupant, to cover periods spent away from the room,
say in the garden.

There is a communal lounge, a dining room and a combined room
on the first floor that may also be used for letter writing,
recreation, or as a reading room. Large print books are
available, as a service from the Central Library. This is also
a small room for hairdressing and other treatment on the
ground floor.

A pay phone is available for all to
make and receive calls. This can be moved exceptionally to
Residents' rooms. In an emergency during the waking day,
incoming calls can be received anywhere on the premises
through the 'Diverse 3010' portable internal system.
Alternatively, we will arrange for those who prefer to have a
telephone installed in their rooms at their own cost. We would
appreciate it if telephone calls were avoided during meal
times.
-
Residents who have friends or
family overseas can benefit from the reduced cost of
communications by fax, e-mail or through the broadband internet connection.
